This will be a key swap hike on the
PCT. Total distance is about ten miles.
Very little elevation change. We meet near Warner Springs at the
junction of hwy 79 and county road S2. One group will hike north
from Barrel Spring where the PCT crosses S22 near Ranchita. The
other group will travel south on the PCT from the second
crossing of route 79. Meet at 9:00 AM for forming our two groups
and driving to the two starting points. The event should be
completed by 3:00PM. There will be no refreshments offered.
There is an option to shorten the hike to about 8 miles for any
of us who prefer that distance. The intention is to meet at
Eagle Rock for lunch and key swap. This is an awesome rock
formation where many of us have been previousl
We recommend that anyone carpooling from Mission Valley leave at 7:30. The most direct route is routes 67 and 78 through Ramona. When you reach Santa Ysabel turn left (north) onto route 79. The distance to our meeting place from there is 11 miles and takes less than 15 minutes. Park in the large lot at the junction of 79 and S2. Watch your speed on 79. Speed limit is 55 and is heavily patrolled.
