Bring lunch, 2-3 quarts of water, sun and rain protection, and lug-soled shoes. “First timers" must call the leader. All participants must be in top condition, well prepared for trail conditions and will be accepted at the leader’s discretion. Hikers must be able to keep pace with the group.

Park on the street in front of the Methodist Church, 2111 Camino del Rio South (west of Texas St.). Be prepared to drive yourself if there are no other carpoolers.

The hike will be from Del Mar Mesa in Carmel Valley down to Penasquitos Canyon and back. The trail is semi rural and about 8 miles long passing the Shaw Valley trail, Duck Pond, Waterfall and return. We will depart for the hike promptly at 9:00am and return to the parking area around 1pm. Moderate elevation gain and loss. Bring water, snack, and lunch.
Directions to the Trailhead: Take Highway 56 (Ted Williams Freeway) to the Carmel Country Road Exit. Go south east approximately 0.7 miles and make a right turn on Sagamore Way . Park either on Sagamore or continue up Sagamore and park along either side of Sterling Grove Lane . We will meet at the corner of Sagamore and Carmel Country Road . No restrooms available.
